A team from Dubai Men’s College has won the first of the UAE’s Unmanned Air Systems Rodeo. The awards ceremony was held at the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training Dhabi (CERT) in Abu Dhabi.
The ceremony took place under the patronage of Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chancellor, Higher Colleges of Technology.
Called the Robotics Team, the Dubai Men’s College team of Mohammad Al Shamsi, Khalil Ibrahim, Salem Mohammad, Mohamed Jasem, and Yaqoub Yousuf, received their award from Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chancellor, Higher Colleges of Technology.
The winning team won an all expenses paid trip to the United States to participate in the AUVSI convention, and the runners up – Spirit of Al Ain from Al Ain’s Men’s College – could look forward to an all expenses paid trip to Sweden to visit to manufacturing facilities of SAAB. Between May 1-2, a team of six judges drawn from HCT, Northrop Grumman, ADASI , and AUVSI visited various campuses where competing teams delivered presentations of their UAVs and their efforts to create their respective

Awards for the best presentation went to SIGMA-6 from Abu Dhabi Women’s College and the prize for for Fastest UAV went to the Seven Stars team from Al-Ain Men’s College.
Organisers INEGMA, said that the event will now become an annual competition.
