, a provider of field-ready computing systems, has announced that it is presenting the live webinar Advancements in Full Motion Video for Military UAS Surveillance Applications on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Hosted by Defense Tech Briefs, a leading defense industry publication, registration for the complimentary webinar can be made at http://bit.ly/ZMicroWebinar.
Live full-motion video (FMV) from unmanned aircraft systems has become indispensable in military surveillance operations. Quality imagery is essential to mission success. Webinar presenter Jason Wade, VP of product marketing and sales at Z Microsystems, will discuss new image processing technology that provides a level of visual clarity never before possible. The FPGA-based system applies a wide variety of sophisticated image enhancement algorithms to FMV in real time.
In addition to image enhancement, the webinar will also examine exploitation algorithms, which identify intelligence from the flow of images. Various algorithms can be implemented to allow an operator to track things and watch where people are going. Mosaic or stitching algorithms combine multiple images into a single unified picture, enabling a greater field of view while encoding/decoding and compress/decompress algorithms make image data transmission and storage more efficient. Incorporating FPGA-based algorithms provides flexibility in utilizing the latest industry technologies by incorporating new algorithms as they become available.
For more than 20 years, Z Microsystems has been supplying superior computing technology to the US military and defense system integrators. Today, Z Microsystems designs and manufacturers field-ready computing solutions for military, medical, industrial and law enforcement applications. The company’s commercial off–the–shelf (COTS) products include rugged flat panel displays, high-performance computers and flexible storage systems.
