The Federal Aviation Administration is competitively establishing a new Center of Excellence for General Aviation Research in 2012. The FAA will begin the competitive process by hosting a Public Meeting on November 17-18, 2011 in the Atlantic City, NJ area.
The FAA issued a Preliminary Notice last week, announcing the Public Meeting that starts the process.
The research topic areas related to general aviation in the statement of work include:
- Airport Technology
- Propulsion and Structures
- Airworthiness
- Flight Safety
- Fire Safety
- Human Factors
- System Safety Management
- Weather
- Unmanned Aerial Systems
The COE Program Office is developing a mailing list of those interested in obtaining more information or those who wish to register for the Public Meeting. Please contact patricia.watts@faa.gov with questions, and nicole.newman@faa.gov to register for the meeting.
The draft solicitation, draft agenda and related information will be forwarded upon request. Early registration is encouraged as a limited number of rooms will be available at the host hotel at a discounted rate.
