ICAO’s first regional UAS Seminar took place in Lima, Peru on 18-20 April 2012. This successful event was organised by the ICAO South American Regional Office in cooperation with UVS International and featured 26 speakers from ICAO, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA.
The presentations highlighted the growing intensity of military and non-military applications in Latin America and showcased the ongoing regulatory activities in a substantial number of countries in the region. The requirement for guidance from ICAO was clearly stated, and the willingness to cooperate and share information was expressed by a significant number of national aviation authorities.

The seminar was attended by regulatory authorities from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, representatives from ICAO Headquarters & the regional office, LACAC, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, EUROCONTROL, EUROCAE WG73, EUROCAE WG93, RTCA SC203, NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, as well as industry delegates from Argentina, Belgium, Chile, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and USA.
