Catia Version 5 Isometric view of the Model Aircraft
The Tennessee Research and Creative Exchange at the University of Tennessee has just published an Honours Thesis Project on Humanitarian Response Unmanned Aircraft System (HR-UAS).
The aim is to design an affordable, autonomous aircraft that can deliver 1,800 lbs. of relief supplies contained on two pallets to unimproved runways of less than 500 feet in length wherever supplies are needed. It is also designed to fit inside a C-130J-30 for transport and staging deployment into remote regions. A typical mission consisting of transporting a full payload 300nm and then returning to the operating base is analysed. The overall design of the aircraft, its systems, structures, aerodynamics, and flight performance is also presented.
