iFMS Chile has purchased the Serenity fixed wing unmanned aircraft systems from ING Robotic Aviation in Canada for use in forest fire fighting in Chile. Serenity will be used for aerial survey of forest fires using both electro-optical and infrared cameras, in order to provide a wide range of imagery that will be used in immediate support of Chilean forest fire fighting.
ING Robotic Aviation will be selling systems as well as a training package for Chilean operators. Delivery and training will be in September 2013.
“Serenity will be used as an integral tool for the forest fire fighters,” said Ian Glenn, CEO and CTO of ING Robotic Aviation. “Our equipment will be used to get the right information, into the right hands, at the right time.”
The stabilized, gimbal mounted TASE 200 camera system can provide real time still and video images in both visual and infrared sections of the spectrum. Mosaicing and the development of 3D imagery is readily possible.
ING Robotic Aviation delivers airborne sensing solutions and much more. The company developed its skills through extensive operational surveillance work with the Canadian military. From these beginnings, it is now providing commercial services including critical infrastructure inspections, forest fire monitoring and land use planning in North America and other regions. Its clients are getting the right information in the right hands in a timely manner, and also discovering whole new uses and capabilities for robotic aviation.
