At UVS International’s RPAS 2013 Conference, following on from Monday’s presentations from the UK, France, Sweden, the Friday session opens with a presentation from Tricia Stacey – Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) – EU Office of International Affairs, Belgium, on “The American RPAS Regulatory Status” on behalf of James Williams, FAA UAS Integration Office, USA.
This presentation will provide an overview of recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) activity that supports UAS integration into the U.S. National Airspace System. An overview of current and planned regulatory activities in support of legislative mandates as set forth in the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 will also be included.
Ms. Stacey is the Federal Aviation Administration’s Senior Representative to the European Union, based in Brussels, Belgium. She is responsible for coordinating and managing aviation-related activities both with U.S. Government agencies, the European Union and its Agencies, as well as other civil aviation authorities and international aviation organizations.
In addition, Ms. Stacey interfaces for the FAA with EUROCONTROL and the Single European Sky Aviation Research (SESAR) Joint Undertaking. Ms. Stacey has been with the FAA for over 20 years, all in international activities with both the Office of Aviation Safety and the Office of International Affairs. In 1990, she joined the Aircraft Certification Service International Policy Office where she was the managing lead for the negotiation, signing, and implementation of all the European Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreements.
In 2001, Ms. Stacey joined the Production & Airworthiness Division where she managed all international programs for the Division. Most notably, Ms. Stacey worked as part of the FAA team that negotiated the new U.S./European Community bilateral safety agreement. From 2008 until 2012, Ms. Stacey was the FAA’s Senior Representative based in Paris, France, where she had regional responsibility for 23 countries, including many European Union Member States and several North African Countries, as well as the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Regional Office and the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).
