has announced that it will supply its Falco UAS to an unnamed country in the Middle East. The €40 million contract also includes operational and maintenance support to the customer over a 12 month period.
Fabrizio Giulianini, CEO, Selex ES, said: ‘This year has been an exciting year for our UAS capability, thanks to follow on contracts for our unmanned surveillance service business, flight campaigns of our top of the range Falco EVO and the acquisition of a launch customer for our platform agnostic SkyISTAR mission system.’
The tactical Falco UAS is an operationally proven system, designed to provide net-centric command and control with real-time target cueing. The system can be integrated within existing air management infrastructures and is delivered with a comprehensive set of operational and logistic support services including pilots, sensors and mechanical operators training, and battlelab simulators for CONOPS development.
The UAS carries a suite of payloads for operational overwatch in all weather conditions, including AESA radar and electro optic turrets. It has fully automatic short take-off and landing capabilities, day/night flight and navigation, and a NATO compliant Ground Control Station (GCS) enabling mission planning, re-tasking and data exploitation. The ground data terminal provides a higher-than-200km redundant link range between the GCS and the Falco UAS, through a jam-resistant option data transmission in real time.
The Falco system also features a fault-tolerant architecture which addresses the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) airworthiness guidelines for both civil and military oriented products. The aircraft can be flown in manual and in fully automatic mode.
