Civil Aviation Authority of Israel Issues Two Civilian UAS Licences

Steadicopter Black EagleThe Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAA) has granted an operating license to two companies, Steadicopter and Bladeworks, that operate UAS. The licenses are the first ones given to this innovative aviation field, and enable use of UA systems for civilian purposes, such as aerial photography, agricultural research, security of civilian infrastructures, mapping and more.The licensing process was conducted similar to the licensing process of airlines who operates small unmanned aircraft and included: licensing of the company’s procedures, UAS operators and the UA System. The purpose of the licensing process is to ensure that safety of the aircraft in the Israeli airspace and the safety of the public on the ground is maintained while operating the aircraft.

These first licensing processes make it possible for other companies to go through a similar process, and enable the development of new commercial market with great economic potential.
