L-3 Communications Systems West has been awarded a modification contract by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide support services for the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) Fire Scout MQ-8B/8C.
Under the contract, L-3 will provide supplies and services related to surface terminal equipment (STA) for Hawklink tactical common data link (TCDL), the littoral combat ship (LCS) configurations, and the Vortex Mini-TCDL Shipset components.
This US$17.61 million contract was awarded in January 2014, as a modification to the previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract.
The work will be performed at Salt Lake City, Utah; Point Mugu, California; and Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland; and is expected to be completed by December 2014.
