Local 10 News in Fort Lauderdale reports that small UAS rigged with cameras they can give you an aerial view for a fraction of the cost of aerial photography.
Local operator Roy Caswell, known as “Caz”, of Above It All Video, has about $30,000 invested in his equipment. He is using his two custom built UAS to photograph and video commercial and residential real estate for marketing purposes. Realtor Liz Caldwell say using UAS ever for properties is getting popular, and it pays off. “What a beautiful way to show area views of your property, without having to pay for a helicopter at a huge expense.”
The FAA Is still trying to figure out how to regulate the industry, but as Florida’s only fly safe certified pilots, he says his business is taking off. Literally it is expected this is going to be a multibillion dollars industry in the United States.
He charges anywhere from $150 to $500 depending on the size, and scope of the shoot. But sellers think it is worth it to entice buyers. Once you get airborne, you can see the house itself, but where is the house situated. How close it is to the beach, and the near e.g. Park, or golf course. He says he can even use a smaller aircraft to fly inside the home as well. But this he has to do all manually, and it is very tricky so get these shots without damaging anything inside the home. It is a high definition tour of the home, like no other, that gives spatial clarity to the perspective buyer. Liz Caldwell says “I do believe it gives you a better realistic view. So many times buyers will say to me, gosh, the house looks bigger than it is.”
These professional grade UAS use GPS technology, flight telemetry and data downlinks to make them safer to fly. Also a fail safe of something goes wrong. Caz says “If it loses communications with the transmitter, if something goes wrong and the signal is disturbed it is going to fly home during fail safe mode.”
Using special goggles, clients can actually see exactly what he is showing in real time, and ask him to get special shots that they may want.
