Airbus Group is in discussions to team with US firm Textron Systems for a forthcoming unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) requirement, Airbus revealed on 17 June.
The expected French Army requirement for a tactical UAV will see Airbus team with Textron Systems to propose Textron Systems Shadow M2, which will feature a sensor payload developed by Airbus and will also utilise the communication links used on the Harfang. The payload is, according to a spokesperson, built on the experience derived from the Harfang and Tanan UAVs.
The Shadow M2 is the next generation of the company’s highly successful RQ-7B Shadow, which has seen service with the US Army, US Marine Corps, and Australian and Swedish militaries.
