The US Navy has awarded nine companies a spot on a maximum $99 million set of contracts to provide software development and other services for the Naval Air Systems Command’s Strike Planning and Execution Systems, which supports a number of air, sea and ground missions.
Work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contracts includes software development, test and evaluation, maintenance, integration, training, and fielding of systems in the program. The contracts cover work performed through February 2020.

Strike Planning and Execution Systems
is a set of systems intended to streamline planning and execution for missions ranging from cruise missile strikes to deployments of Marine expeditions. They include:
Electronic Knee Board, a tablet that provides aviators with digital products such as flight information charts and instrument approach plates, tactical charts, and imagery.
Joint Mission Planning System, the designated mission planning system for naval aviation, which provides information, automated tools and decision aids for planning aircraft, weapon, and sensor missions. The system loads mission data into aircraft, weapons and avionics systems.
Joint Mission Planning System –Expeditionary, a Web-based for the Expeditionary Strike Group, Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Amphibious Squadron that provides Amphibious Readiness Group staff with a collaborative tool that synchronizes mission execution.
Theater Mission Planning Center, the segment of the Tomahawk Weapon System that provides precision targeting, route planning, mission distribution and strike management of Tomahawk cruise missile missions from sites ashore and afloat.
Air Wing Ship Integration, which supports the Carrier Strike Group through four programs: Digital Camera Receiving Station (handling all digital imagery), Naval Strike Warfare Planning Center (mission, ISR and debrief support for Nimitz class carriers), Integrated Strike Planning and Execution (the same support for Ford class carrier) and Carrier Ready Room Transformational Technologies Upgrade (ready-room support across different classification levels for Nimitz carriers)..
Unmanned System Common Control System, which has a common framework, user interface and components on an open software architecture that can be integrated and tested on a variety of emerging or legacy platforms. The under-development Unmanned Carrier-Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike (UCLASS) program will be the first platform to integrate CCS from inception.
