The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) is looking at entering into a co-operative development programme with the US Navy (USN) on the Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton maritime surveillance high altitude long endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), according to a senior service official.
Group Captain Guy Adams, RAAF Director Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), told reporters at the Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition 2015 at Avalon Airport, near Melbourne, that such a programme would enable RAAF to maybe influence future capabilities on the Triton along the lines of the Boeing P-8A Poseidon co-operative agreement that is currently ongoing.
