Several new advanced drones will soon enter service with the Russian armed forces with the state-of-the-art S300M UAV slated for mass production already next month.
The S300M Burevestnik has a “flying wing” design, a laser homing system and a system of automatic jettisoning of wings which in a crash landing situation will minimize the impact thus preventing a serious damage to the aircraft.
“The S300M is extremely versatile, ideal for air reconnaissance missions and for observation of major installations in any weather,” Aviakor engineer Vladimir Tolokontsev told Zvezda TV on Thursday.
“As far as I know, it can handle wind gusts of up to 15 meters per second, which makes it a real godsend for our reconnaissance troops,” he added.
The S300M Burevestnik is only the first in a whole family of new Russian drones that will soon be ready for mass production.
