Drone World Expo Conference Program Will Provide a Road Map for Commercial Drone Solutions

A world-class conference program and several new educational and networking features will take place at the 2nd annual Drone World Expo, the defining event for the commercial applications of UAS technology, taking place at the San Jose Convention Center, Tuesday, November 15 – Wednesday, November 16, 2016.   
Following a very successful launch in 2015, the Drone World Expo educational program, developed for the industry, by the industry, will once again be offered at no charge to qualified end-users. Dozens of educational sessions and case studies will be led by thought leaders, industry experts and end-users who will present real-world solutions.
“Our extraordinary Advisory Board is helping to shape a two-day conference that will feature insightful panels and workshops on everything from the current regulatory environment to late-breaking industry news,” said event director, Joelle Coretti.   “Attendees will hear in depth information from subject matter experts from the FAA, CNN, FOX Sports, Google[x], Intel, NASA, Clayco, NOAA, U.S. Department of the Interior, ABC News, and the US Coast Guard, to name a few.”
One of the new features of the education program will be the Women of CommercialDrones Networking Breakfast on Wednesday morning featuring a dynamic list of women who will lead informative and timely discussions about the industry.  Participating speakers include Whitney Brooks, Unmannedpower LLC; Natalie Cheung, Intel; Karen DiMeo, FAA; Lisa Ellman, Hogan Lovells; Sally French, MarketWatch/The Wall Street Journal Digital Network; Dyan Gibbens, Trumbull Unmanned; Rhianna Lakin, Amelia Dronehart RC Copter Group; Jaclyn Louis, Intel; Stephanie Spear, National Association of REALTORS®; Maria Stefanopoulos, ABC News; and Gretchen West, Hogan Lovells/Commercial Drone Alliance.
During the two-day event, dozens of case studies will be presented by end users, which will include:

  • Opportunities and Challenges for Drone Use in the Water Utility Sector
  • On the Air: UAS for Live and Taped Production; Drones in Construction
  • Drones and Newsgathering
  • Produce Pilots: Drones in the Field and Orchard; Security and Surveillance viaDrone
  • UAS for Mining/Aggregates
  • Drones in Law Enforcement
  • Drones for Oil & Gas/Utilities
  • Drone Integration in a Department of Transportation (DOT) Infrastructure
  • Drones on the High Seas – Documenting Illegality
Sessions that have already been scheduled include a Regulatory and Policy Update, The Realities of Drone Delivery; Navigating State and Federal Drone Laws, Cyber Security; Making Sense of UAS Market Forecasts; Drones for Emergency and Disaster Response; Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Maritime, Atmospheric and Polar Environments; Finding Funding: The VC Community Speaks; CounterDrone Technology; and Cross-Industry Safety Concerns; Mitigating Risk.  Several California organizations will also be presenting their local story, including the California Department of Transportation; California Department of Water Resources; Center for Watershed Sciences, UC Davis; San Diego Sheriff’s Department, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission; and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary list of sessions and speakers is available here and is being updated daily.  Conference attendees can expect to hear from nearly 100 speakers in dozens of high-level panel discussions and case studies over the course of the 2-day event.
In addition to a dynamic education program, Drone World Expo will offer an expansive exhibit hall giving end users access to the newest products and services available in the industry.  More than 4,000 end-users and commercial drone professionals are expected to attend the event.
