Textron Systems Unmanned Systems has announced the launch of the newest member of its proven family of Ground Control Station (GCS) products, the Synturian family of products. Synturian is a family of multi-domain control and collaboration technologies that empower situational awareness and informed action.
The Synturian family of products includes two main product lines: Synturian Control and Synturian Remote. Synturian Control is a multi-platform, multi-vehicle, multi-domain control system that enhances collaboration and dissemination of information. Synturian Remote includes mobile, network-strengthened tools that enhance situational awareness through timely information and collaboration. Both Synturian Control and Synturian Remote package these capabilities into small, lightweight hardware form factors that are scalable based on customer needs.
The Synturian family of products was designed around a service-oriented architecture for rapid integration of off-the-shelf software. The intuitive interface allows for streamlined training and logistics. This interface has already been tested on multiple flights, when Synturian took control over a renowned optionally piloted aircraft and a Group I Unmanned Aircraft System. Textron Systems is actively integrating the Synturian family of products with its own unmanned aircraft systems, including the Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System and the Aerosonde Small Unmanned Aircraft System. Textron Systems will also integrate the Synturian family of products with its own unmanned surface system, the Common Unmanned Surface Vessel (CUSV). Synturian Remote has successfully demonstrated its remote terminal capabilities with Shadow, Aerosonde, and Textron Aviation’s special missions platforms. Textron Systems has successfully integrated other Textron Systems products, such as iCommand and RemoteView, allowing for collaboration and analytics to be pushed forward to the leading edge, providing a full solution set to customers.
“Based on customer feedback from Textron Systems’ history of proven unmanned systems experience, we designed a system that focuses on the best end-user experience possible that can also meet the needs of users in today’s digital age,” says Textron Systems Unmanned Systems Vice President of Control and Surface Systems Wayne Prender. “Compared to other control and collaboration products, Synturian features a game-changing reduction in size and weight, while remaining user-intuitive and cost-effective. Additionally, the system’s ability to seamlessly integrate with a range of platforms and software from multiple domains demonstrates its place as the next-generation of control and collaboration technology.”
