has announced that George LI Dongqi, group Vice President of SF Express & Chairman of SF UAS (Fonair Aviation Co. Ltd) has become a member of the association’s Board of Directors.
SF Express is China’s leading service provider of express logistics and it aims to provide customers with integrated and comprehensive logistics solutions. In addition to providing high-quality logistics services at the distribution end, SF Express has also extended its services to front-end processes, including production, supply, marketing, and distribution, for the value chain. Based on customer requirements, utilizing big data analysis and cloud computing technologies, the company provides customers with integrated logistics services including warehousing management, sales forecasting, big data analysis, and settlement management.
Boasting its mass logistics networks at home and abroad, it is an integrated logistics service operator with its aviation, ground and information networks. SF Express also operates the biggest cargo airline fleet in China, consisting of 58 all cargo freighters, including B767, B757 and B737 aircraft, accounting for 23% of China’s domestic air cargo volume.
As early as 2012, SF Express began its exploration of the use of UAS in logistics. It tested and operated various UAS with payload capacities ranging from 1 kg to more than 1000 kg. In 2018, SF Express was granted a first-ever UAS business license and AOC by the Civil Aviation Authority of China. In April 2018, it signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei and China Mobile. The three parties will work together on cross-industry joint innovation, combining next-generation mobile communication technologies with logistics and drones.
In the future, SF Express plans to build a 3-tier transportation network to achieve 36-hour delivery time nationwide, by leveraging airliners for the trunk segment, large UAS for the feeder segment, and small UAS for the last mile. See:Perspectives On & Suggestions For UAS In Logistics
As UVS International Board member, George Li will be able to contribute to UVS International’s continuous endeavours relative to the international promotion and harmonization of drone-related standards and regulations. He will also play a pivotal role to increase our association’s visibility in China.
George Li joined SF Express as Group VP in 2007, responsible for setting up SF Airlines. He was Group VP and President of SF Airlines from 2009, and Group VP and President of SG Best, an e-Commerce Platform of SF Express, from October 2012. In 2014, Mr. Li was assigned as Group VP and CEO of SF Commercial Business Group. In 2015, he was appointed as Group CMO and Group VP. Since 2016, Mr. Li is Group VP and Chairman of SF UAS (Fonair Aviation Co. Ltd), responsible for SF Express’ cargo UAS strategy and operations. Before joining SF Express, George Li worked at IBM, Abacus International (Singapore), CTSHK, and other companies in China and Singapore. He has Master and Bachelor degrees in engineering.
