The EU-China Aviation Partnership Project (APP) has as purpose to strengthen the economic partnership between the EU and China in the civil aviation domain. At the heart of the EU-China APP is the call for closer cooperation between the EU and China at an official and authority level, and the linking of technical cooperation with policy dialogue.
The project incorporates the idea of a close cooperation between EASA and various European project partners to bring the best European aviation expertise to the project. Likewise on the Chinese side, the project interacts with several Chinese stakeholders coordinated by the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC). CAAC and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in close cooperation with their partners, directly implement activities together. Initiated on 15 September 2015, the EU-China APP has a duration of 5 years (2015-2020) and an EU budget of 10 million euros.
The second annual EU-China APP drone workshop took place on 6-7 June 2018 in Shenzhen, China.
The Chinese organisations presenting were: CAAC, China Mobile, DJI, Ehang, Ewatt, Huawei, Qianxun SI, TopXGun, XAG, and Xi’An ASN Technology. The following organisations from the EU gave presentations: Airbus Aerial (Singapore), Airbus Helicopters (Singapore), DFS Aviation Services (Germany), EASA, EUROCONTROL (Belgium), Leonardo (Italy), SESAR Joint Undertaking, Thales (France), Unifly (Belgium), and UVS International (France).
A significant number of presentations addressed UTM/U-Space and related operational matters. On 8 June 2018, the EU delegation visited the headquarters of DJI and Huawei.
