Pipe-Mount Base for UAS Integration of Ultrasonic Anemometer

Anemoment LLC,

a specialized meteorological instrument design firm located in Longmont, CO, announced the availability of its TriSonica Mini Wind and Weather Sensor with an integrated pipe-mount base accommodating any ½” schedule 10 pipe.

This new mounting option streamlines and simplifies integration of the TriSonica Mini Wind and Weather Sensor on multi-rotor unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). With its compact size (9.1cm x 9.1cm x 5.2cm), weight (50 grams), and power (9-36 VDC@30mA) ratio, the TriSonica Mini Wind and Weather Sensor is perfect for UAS deployments, while the fact that it has no moving parts, thus eliminating maintenance issues, enables it to be stationed on fixed or portable towers for real-time 3-dimensional air flow measurements.

“For me size and weight are key attributes,” states Alex Clark, Director of Advanced Sensor Systems, EngeniusMicro. “The TriSonica™ Mini is small, easy to put on our UAS and it doesn’t really take much power. I can always add more instruments to my payload, especially if they all weigh nothing and they don’t take up any space.”

When Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) Matter

It is the world’s smallest and lightest 3D ultrasonic anemometer. It is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, yet it is a powerful and highly accurate tool engineered for atmospheric monitoring, weather reporting, and ecosystem research. In addition to wind speed, direction, and temperature, the TriSonica Mini Wind & Weather Sensor can report the compass heading relative to the device (magnetic heading), the moisture borne in the wind (relative humidity), the density of the air (pressure), dew point, and the angle of the wind (pitch and roll, up to a 15° tilt).
