The RQ-7B Shadow unmanned aircraft system missing since approximately 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, was reportedly located by Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 3:47 p.m. today in a rural area of Pima County and recovery operations are underway.
Civil Air Patrol, Cochise County Sheriff’s Department and Pima County Sheriff’s Department were assisting in the aerial search efforts today. At this time, details about the current condition of the aircraft are unknown.
The UAS was operating in Fort Huachuca’s West Range on a routine training mission when it lost radar contact with air traffic control after it exited the R2303 restricted airspace.
