announced that it has joined the EUROCAE organization. EUROCAE currently has over 400 members, including industry, service providers, regulators, research institutes, and international organizations. EUROCAE has become the European leader in the development of worldwide recognized industry standards for aviation.
EUROCAE membership is open to organizations and industries worldwide.
What is EUROCAE?
EUROCAE is a non-profit organization, established in 1963 as “The European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment,” with the main purpose of developing standards for European civil aviation. EUROCAE currently has over 400 members, including industry, service providers, regulators, research institutes, and international organizations. EUROCAE has become the European leader in the development of industrial standards (e.g., ED-12C/DO-178C Software considerations in airborne systems and equipment certification; ED-94C/DO-248C Supporting Information for ED-12C and ED-109A) globally recognized in the aviation and cooperate closely with RTCA or SAE. This is the European equivalent to RTCA (e.g., DO-178C, DO-248C).
EUROCAE is especially proactive in the UAS sector, which drives us to join this renowned organization.
What is it providing us?
UAV Navigation addition to EUROCAE provides the company many different advantages that strengthen our leadership position as a UAS flight control system manufacturer.
By joining EUROCAE, we will have access to all the standards published by the organization, which are not available to the general public. This will help us to develop and improve our autopilots and AHRS systems according to the standards currently used by the Tier1 manufacturer companies.
Additionally, we will be able to participate in EUROCAE “Working Groups,” defined by the Council of EUROCAE, and specialized in different aerospace branches. The Council defines the work programs, and it monitors, reviews, and approves all documents prior to their publication.
Due to our expertise and experience in the unmanned industry, UAV Navigation has already been included in the WG-105 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
WG-105 is tasked with developing standards and guidance documents that will allow the safe operation of UAS in all types of airspace, at all times, and for all types of operations. The work of WG-105 is organized into six Focus Teams working in a specific area. The current Focus Areas are:
- Detect and Avoid (DAA)
- Command, Control, Communication (C3)
- UAS Traffic Management (UAS)
- Design and Airworthiness Standards
- Enhanced RPAS Automation (ERA)
- Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA)
A complete list of the Working Groups may be checked on the EUROCAE website.
Why is this an important step for the future of the company?
Unmanned sector is getting more and more professional at a very high pace to achieve high levels of safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Design process may be affected by the regulation (e.g., Automatic actions in No-Fly Zones/Geofencing).
On the other hand, we are aware of the key role that takes our flight control system inside an aircraft, so it is important to contribute with our experience and listen to the recommendations of other companies based on their experiences. These comments may help us to create an optimal solution to the problem.
In this regard, we can find some interesting standards for the UAS sector, such as:
- ED-280 – Guidelines for UAS safety analysis for the specific category (low and medium levels of robustness)
- ED-269 – Minimum Operational Performance Standard for UAS Geo-Fencing
UAV Navigation is always leading the industry of flight control systems. Manufacturing professional systems that are one level above the rest of the system may be found in the market. This leadership made us seek new sources of knowledge, which made us keep on leading the way in the avionics for unmanned vehicles.
UAV Navigation – Grupo Oesía
UAV Navigation is a 100% Spanish capital, private and independent specialized in the design of guidance, navigation and control solutions (GNC) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) since 2004. The flight control solutions are characterized by their reliability and robustness, being used on all kinds of platforms and weather conditions. These include high-performance tactical unmanned planes, VTOL fixed wings, aerial targets, mini-UAVs and helicopters.
UAV Navigation is part of Oesia Group, a Spanish group of multinational companies with more than 45 years of experience designing, developing and maintaining cutting-edge technology for the Security, Defense and Aerospace sectors with a long history of work in avionics for important projects. The Oesia Group has been involved during the whole life cycle (design, development, qualification and maintenance) of critical and no-critical flight systems for Eurofighter EF-2000, A-400M, F-18, C-295, P3-B Orión or MH-60R. The group is now involved in the largest UAV projects such as the FCAS/NGWS, Eurodrone or SIRTAP.
Oesia Group relies on more than 3,500 employees and more than 15 headquarters in Spain and America and working on projects in 23 different countries with the main purpose of creating a better world, more efficient, safe and sustainable. The company also counts on a worldwide network of distributors to spread these cutting-edge capabilities around the world. www.uavnavigation.com
