Ukraine Reveals New EW-Resistant, Night Vision Combat Drone

Ukrainian tech firm Skylab UA has developed an electronic warfare-resistant combat drone with night vision capabilities. The Shoolika Mk6 was announced by Ukraine Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, who revealed that the system is capable of launching accurate strikes even in nighttime operations.

“The Defense Forces have already tested the Shoolika mk6 and offered their feedback: the drone is important for tactical operations, especially at night,” Fedorov said.

The drone, currently undergoing NATO codification, is slated to receive updates in its artificial intelligence and camera capabilities for more effective use during tactical operations.

Capable of carrying up to 6 kilograms (13 pounds) of payload, the Mk6 can operate at a distance of up to 10 kilometers (6 miles).

Drones in the War

Ukraine has relied on drones to counter Russia’s forces, employing the capabilities as a way to minimize casualties on the battlefield.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the creation of a separate military branch focusing on bolstering the armed forces’ “unmanned and robotic air, sea, and ground systems.”

Ukraine’s drones have been successful in destroying some of Russia’s heavy-duty equipment, including a long-range supersonic bomber and an oil tanker in the Kerch strait loaded with fuel.
