The German Federal Ministry of Economics has authorized Donaustahl to manufacture and export MAUS drones. The company said that the new drones will go to the Ukrainian division of Kraken.
According to the company, the MAUS system can be used for attacks on manpower and armored vehicles. The MAUS platform is a versatile quadcopter capable of both reconnaissance and strike missions.
MAUS is designed as an FPV drone. It is described as a “fully modular, cost-effective, reliable and easy-to-use platform” designed for minimal operator training. Based on the tactical and technical characteristics of the MAUS drone, it is known that it can carry a payload of up to 2.7 kg and has a flight range of 5 to 7 km.
The drone is equipped with a high-resolution camera that allows you to perform missions even at night. It is also possible to arm with different types of ammunition.
It is claimed to be superior to “artisan and civilian” drones in terms of performance and performance. Unlike drones on the market, MAUS is not made of carbon, but of specially treated wood. This makes the barrage munition platform about 10% heavier than conventional FPV drones, but at the same time about 75% cheaper in terms of frame manufacturing cost.
The company is also currently testing and developing its own AI-based recognition software called Vulture, which is designed to reliably recognize people and vehicles.
