Kalashnikov Concern Delivers SKAT 350 M UAV to State

Kalashnikov Concern has completed delivery of a batch of SKAT 350 M unmanned aerial vehicles to the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK). The devices are intended for use in the civilian sector of the economy, the concern’s press service said.

‘The unmanned aerial system (UAS) SKAT 350M is officially included in the register of products manufactured in the territory of the Russian Federation, according to the decree of the government of the Russian Federation No. 719 of 17.07.2015, which gave the manufacturer the right to put the UAS on state tenders and supply products to fulfil state orders,’ Kalashnikov explained.

The SKAT 350 M is a modernised version of the Supercam S350 platform developed by Izhevsk-based CG Unmanned Systems. The UAV has a wide range of applications, its operational temperature range allows it to operate effectively in various climatic conditions, from arctic to subtropical. High resistance to wind loads and bad weather conditions ensures reliable operation in any geographical zones.

The system SKAT 350 M is designed for aerial photography and video monitoring, is in demand in agriculture and forestry, oil and gas industry, for monitoring of power lines and environmental conditions, construction and rescue operations. The experience of use as a reconnaissance drone in the area of a special military operation has confirmed the effectiveness of the system in combat conditions as well.

The modernisation of the Supercam S350 UAV consisted in improving aerodynamic performance by redesigning the wing and control surfaces. The design was strengthened and the strength of the entire system was increased to ensure durability of operation under increased loads. An automatic mode of operation of the air pressure receiver and a new battery controller have been introduced, which improves the parameters of its operation. Most functions of the ground control station have been automated, reliability and service life of the system as a whole have been improved.

The target load includes modern high-resolution video cameras, including thermal imaging cameras, providing round-the-clock surveillance. Data processing is carried out by an updated module that uses advanced algorithms to improve target tracking and tracking – this has increased operator efficiency and reduced the time required to process information.

The maximum take-off weight of the SKAT 350M UAV is 15kg, with a wingspan of 3.2 metres. It takes no more than 15 minutes to prepare the complex for launch, and the launch itself is carried out from an elastic or pneumatic catapult. The flight duration is 240 minutes, the speed at altitudes from 300 to 2000 metres – from 72 to 120 km/h. The range of the radio line and the range of the broadband secure video channel is 70-100 kilometres. Landing is carried out by parachute in automatic or semi-automatic modes.
