Frontex Launches C-UAS Prize Contest

Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, has announced the launch of the Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) Prize Contest. This initiative invites innovators to present innovative solutions to counter unauthorised unmanned aircraft activity at EU external borders.

The contest is aligned with the Technical and Operational Strategy for European Integrated Border Management (2023–2027) and seeks to enhance the security, efficiency, and resilience of border management systems.

Why Participate?

This is your opportunity to contribute to the security and operational excellence of EU borders by:

  • Showcasing innovative neutralisation solutions for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
  • Competing for financial prizes from a total pool of €960,000.

Contest Phases

Phase 1: Technical Proposals

  • Submit your UAS neutralisation solution, focusing on innovation, effectiveness, and deployment feasibility.
  • The top five applicants will each receive €20,000 and advance to Phase 2.

Phase 2: Live Operational Trials

  • Demonstrate your solution in a simulated border environment.
  • Compete for prizes:

        1st Prize: €270,000

        2nd Prize: €220,000

        3rd Prize: €170,000

        4th and 5th Prizes: €100,000 each.

  • Opening of Call for Prizes: 20 December 2024
  • Submission Deadline: 17 March 2025 13:00 Warsaw time
  • Phase 1 Winners Announced: June 2025
  • Live Operational Trials: October 2025
  • Final Winner Announcement: November 2025

Eligibility

  • Open to all legal entities registered in EU Member States, Schengen-associated countries, and  EEA countries.
  • Joint applications are welcome, with a lead applicant coordinating submissions.
