Griffon’s Valiant Relies on Volz Servos

Highest reliability, when it matters most: Griffon Aerospace, an advanced aerospace systems company since 1995, trusts on Volz Servos for the control surfaces and rotor tilt of its innovative hybrid-electric Valiant reconnaissance and surveillance UAV.

Volz actuators on the control surfaces keep the autonomous VTOL UAV precisely on course. A customized low-profile Volz servo ensures that the tilt mechanism reliably switches from vertical take-off to cruise flight and back to vertical operation for pinpoint landing.

Griffon’s Valiant is designed to conduct a variety of missions in demanding and contested environments, from land and sea.

“It is undisputed that these UAS in particular must react immediately to control commands and do so with absolute precision,” says Phillipp Volz, CEO of Volz Servos. “This is even more true in challenging search and rescue conditions, such as gusty winds, extreme temperatures or obscure areas, where downtime or malfunctions can have catastrophic consequences.”

The Valiant VTOL UAV offers strategic-level capabilities in an organic, unit-level asset with high endurance and a functional system for easy payload exchange. Customers can rely on precise autonomous control thanks to Volz’s benchmark in state-of-the-art actuator technology.
