– Volz Servos has signed a production agreement with BETA Technologies as an electromechanical actuator partner for the ALIA project.
In doing so, Volz has positioned itself to assist BETA for the foreseeable future:
“Volz will soon complete its EN 9100 certification, equivalent to AS 9100”, explains Phillipp Volz, CEO of Volz Servos. “We have added to our maintenance and aftermarket team to provide world class services including round-the-clock service that can deliver new servos anywhere in the world within the shortest possible time in the event of an AOG, Aircraft on Ground”,
says Phillipp Volz, describing the extensive adjustments. The experienced German SME is now due to position itself well as an aviation supplier for the coming decades.
In 2023, BETA had teamed up with Volz to complete its fly-by-wire system for the ALIA CTOL and ALIA VTOL. With the production agreement, including requirements also be guaranteed throughout the entire supply chain, BETA together with Volz creates the basis for the ALIA production phase following development / certification: With its EASA certified subsidiary AEE (Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH), Volz can develop, produce, and maintain actuators according to each domain applicable aviation standards.
“BETA’s ALIA platform is one of the most promising AAM projects”, said Phillipp Volz. “BETA’s continued confidence in Volz’s valuable contributions makes us proud, and we are eager to continue delivering unique, certifiable actuators that meet both European and US aviation regulations. This is critical to gaining a foothold in a market whose great potential is increasingly being recognized”.
“In the past several weeks, we’ve rolled our first aircraft off the production line and begun flight testing,” said Talon Vazquez, BETA’s Head of Supply Chain. “It’s a new chapter for BETA as we approach market delivery, and one that we couldn’t reach without partners like Volz. In addition to providing top-of-the-line actuators that deliver on safety and reliability and meet multiple certification standards, Volz shares our long-term vision for AAM. We’re glad to have such supportive partners that can help us meet customers’ needs in the immediate, while building capabilities for an autonomous future.”
