Oslo Police Arrest Five Poles for Drone Flights Near Military Base

Norwegian police have arrested five Polish nationals for allegedly operating drones in a restricted area near the headquarters of the Norwegian counterintelligence agency, officials said on Sunday.

The individuals are accused of violating a flight ban around the Kolsås military base, located on the outskirts of Oslo.

The facility houses the Norwegian Security Service (NSM), which oversees counterintelligence and cybersecurity, as well as NATO units supporting air operations in Northern Europe.

Police said they had deployed significant resources, including a helicopter, to locate the drone operators. Following their detention, the suspects were taken into temporary custody.

“The scope of charges will be determined after reviewing the recordings we have secured. At this point, it is difficult to estimate how extensive it will be,”

said Sven Christian Maximillian Lie from Oslo police’s operational command.

The Polish Embassy in Oslo stated it had no official information about the arrests.
