, the international specialist insurance and reinsurance underwriting group which is part of Tokio Marine, has partnered with aviation training specialist Resource UAS to help mitigate the risks associated with using commercially flown Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) through training and insurance.
Kiln, a recognised market leader in the provision of specialist aviation insurance, is offering a 15% discount on combined Hull & Liability insurance coverage and a 10% discount on standalone Hull or Liability insurance coverage to clients that hold a current and valid RPQ-s certificate, which is exclusively available from Resource UAS.
Resource UAS is approved as a ‘Qualified Entity’ by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Its RPQ-s certificate is recognised as evidence of pilot competence and can be attained by completing a Distance Learning module followed by a three day training course and a flight assessment.
While originally used for governmental and military purposes UAS are increasingly being used for commercial purposes, including filming, aerial inspection and surveying.
Jay Wigmore, Aviation underwriter at Kiln says “We recognise the value proficient training brings to underpin the safe operation of UAS, which are increasingly being used within a broad range of industry sectors. Through this partnership, we hope to combine our market-leading specialist knowledge and experience of aviation risk mitigation with an industry recognised training programme, to help shape a safe and viable commercial UAS sector as it develops.”
Adrian Leatherland, Divisional Director at Resource UAS, said: “We have chosen to partner with Kiln as it is the market leader in the provision of specialist aviation insurance and we look forward to helping make the commercial use of UAS safer.”
Resource UAS is an operating division of Resource Group, which is a UK-based training, recruitment and engineering company. The company is planning to expand the delivery of RPQ-s training into Europe. Working in collaboration with aviation authorities across Europe, it is intended that individuals will be able to complete the RPQ-s course in an expanding range of countries with courses tailored to meet local regulations.
