External Consultation of JARUS Deliverable AMC RPAS.1309

The JARUS deliverable “AMC RPAS.1309” and the associated document “SCOPING PAPER to AMC RPAS.1309” are now available on the JARUS website for external consultation. These documents are the output of more than 3 years of work by a dedicated working group within JARUS.

They provide a means to conduct a system safety assessment in support of RPAS type-certification, including defining system availability and integrity levels. The  background and rationale for the approach taken is fully documented in the supporting scoping paper. They can be found under the “Draft Deliverables” tab on http://www.jarus-rpas.org, together with the online comment forms for each document.

The deadline for providing comments is March 28, 2014.

JARUS is a group of experts drawn from national aviation authorities from around the world, including the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and EUROCONTROL. Its purpose is to recommend a single set of technical, safety and operational requirements for the certification and safe integration of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) into airspace and at aerodromes.  This requires review and consideration of existing regulations and other material applicable to manned aircraft and the drafting of specific RPAS guidance material to cover the unique features of RPAS. More information about JARUS can be found on http://www.jarus-rpas.org/
