Following EuroUSC’s ongoing global UAS/RPAS activities, the latest Civil Aviation Authority to recognise the BNUC-S pilot qualification is the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department as defined in their website guide “8. Pilot Qualification”
The guide stipulates that: ‘Evidence of pilot competency is required when making an application for permission to operate UAS but currently there are no pilot licences for the operation of UAS. CAD accepts Basic National UAS Certificate – Small Unmanned Aircraft (BNUC-S) or equivalent for evidence of UAS pilot competency.’
UAS/RPAS Pilots holding the BNUC-S qualification will already be operating under an approved Operations Manual and may apply to the HK-CAA on the standard 2-page form for a permission to operate UAS/RPAS for non-scheduled services for hire or reward in ‘HK Chinese’ territory.
