Xtreme Power Systems Selects RFaxis for New Atmel-Based Diversity Antenna DivBee(TM) Module to Serve ZigBee/ISM Applications

RFaxis

has announced that its RFX2401 single chip/single die RF Front-End Integrated Circuit (RFeIC(TM)) for ZigBee/ISM 2.4GHz has been selected by Xtreme Power Systems (XPS) for its new DivBee(TM) Diversity Antenna ZigBee module.

With its dual antenna architecture, and powered by the combination of the Atmel AT86RF231 low power ZigBee 2.4GHz transceiver and the RFaxis RFX2401 RFeIC(TM), the cost-effective DivBee(TM) module delivers long range performance, high sensitivity and long battery life in an ultra-compact design. Pre-certified for FCC/IC/ETSI regulatory approvals, the DivBee(TM) module is an agile time-to-market solution.

“XPS is proud to announce the launch of our RF Technology Division and the debut of the DivBee(TM) module,” stated Jim Drew, CEO of Xtreme Power Systems. “Our new DivBee(TM) module expands the reach of our radio transmitters and module solutions beyond our currently served markets, including the Radio Control (R/C) hobbyist and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)/Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) markets, into broader high volume markets such as industrial controls, RF4CE consumer electronics, Smart Energy, security, lighting and sensor networks. We are pleased to have RFaxis and Atmel, with their innovative technologies and expertise in the high performance low power RF space, as our partners in bringing our DivBee(TM) module to the market.”

“The XPS DivBee(TM) module is truly an innovative product for the ZigBee/ISM space, and its target applications are compelling,” said Mike Neshat, chairman and CEO of RFaxis. “We are excited to witness the accelerating deployment of our RFX2401 RFeIC(TM) into a wide variety of ZigBee/ISM devices and end-applications. We are also privileged to have our RFX2401 implemented alongside quality ZigBee chipsets from leaders such as Atmel. Our cost-effective silicon-based single chip/single die RFeICs(TM) deliver tangible value to our customers and chipset partners via range, robust performance, compact size and ease-of-implementation. We appreciate the tremendous growth potential for the DivBee(TM) module, and have committed our full support to XPS to make their product a success.”

The RFaxis RFX2401 RFeIC(TM) is a complete and fully integrated RF Front-end that includes all the RF functionality needed for IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee/ISM 2.4GHz applications. The RFX2401 is comprised of a power amplifier (PA), low noise amplifier (LNA), transmit and receive switching circuitry, matching network, and harmonic filters all integrated onto a single silicon die.
