The Russian Helicopters manufacturer unveiled its three new unmanned aerial vehicles, including an upgraded tiltrotor, a multirotor and a helicopter at the HeliRussia-2016 international helicopter industry exhibition.


The ninth HeliRussia-2016 exhibition is due to take place between May 19 and May 21 in Moscow. Organized by Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry, the event is the only international helicopter exhibition, where companies from Russia and other countries can showcase helicopter industry achievements, including new helicopters, navigation equipment, communication and control systems.

“Visitors of the exhibition will be shown an unmanned helicopter, a multirotor and an upgraded tiltrotor. The vehicles have been developed by the VR-Technologies construction bureau belonging to the Russian Helicopters holding,” the company said in a press release.

The drones to be showcased by Russian Helicopters are designed for a variety of tasks, which include monitoring the environment, ecological control, carrying out aerial photography and delivering small cargo loads, such as medicines, to remote areas, according to the statement.

The company’s tiltrotor, which had been upgraded since its model was displayed at the MAKS-2015 aviation and space salon, and now possesses a range of 450 kilometers (280 miles), can reach speeds of up to 140 kilometers per hour, flies at heights up to two kilometers and has a 6-kilogram payload. The multirotor is capable of speeds up to 60 kilometers per hour with 3-kilogram payload, while the unmanned helicopter can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour and has a 5-kilogram payload.
