Alphabet Hits Brakes on Project Wing – Cancels Starbucks Partnership

It actually sounds like Vos was on the right track. Really too bad that they let him go.
Project Wing, under Vos leadership, probably would have done the job right, unlike many of the others who are aiming the same way. The change of winds towards perishable delivery is probably a realistic approach towards initial case studies that would pave the way for broader delivery, while on the other hand delivery to the general public needs to include certain precautions that may be easiest to realize through delivery to a possibly controlled subset of people, such as those who may use the service in a medical context. Drone delivery has a long way to go before it can be safely and effectively integrated into national airspace (i.e. except in remote areas) and into correct application with the target user-base / end clients.
