Even though Thanksgiving isn’t here yet, that is not stopping many in the Grand Valley from decorating for Christmas. Instead of doing things by hand, some are turning to technology to help them reach places they have never been before.
This is the first year they will actually have lights to the tops of the trees, they tired to use bucket lifts, before that they were only able to get about 2/3rds of the way up the trees,” says Robert Hale of DragonFly AI.
The tree they were working on was 80 feet tall, which explains the failed attempts. So the company decided to use a drone that was equipped with Christmas lights, that flew over the tree and laid the lights across it.
“We had the lights over the tree we were able to open the landing gear and it dropped the little frame attached to the lights,” says Hale.
The job took six hours to complete for two trees on the property.
“There was definitely a learning process to it but after the 3rd or 4th try we had it down pretty quick,” says Hale.
