UAS industry leaders in Dayton have announced that they will work with a North Dakota organization to develop and market UAS services for agriculture.
UAVision, a Dayton business that manufactures small unmanned aircraft of between four and 45 pounds, and the University of Dayton-led Institute for the Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology (IDCAST) said they have an agreement to work with UAI International, a non-profit organization based in Grand Forks, N.D. They hope to develop uses of UAS to help farmers more closely track crop production and spread of diseases that could hurt crop yields.
The partners hope to test concepts by the end of 2012 and offer products for the agricultural market within three years, said Tom Kenville, president of UAI International. His company specializes in UAS testing, training, research and program management.
