Steve Sliwa, chief executive of Insitu Inc., a subsidiary of The Boeing Co., will retire April 1 after 10 years with the company. A replacement is currently being sought.
Insitu was founded in 1994. Sliwa, the company’s fourth employee, expanded the company to more than 700 workers, reaching $128 million annual sales in 2008, when Boeing acquired it. A former NASA employee, Sliwa worked at Langley Research Center and founded one of the first PC-based educational software firms, selling it before earning a Stanford University MBA.
He also has a Stanford Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, and engineering degrees from Princeton and George Washington universities. A flight instructor, he served as president of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
