Government officials in the Indian State of Orissa are looking at high-tech radio monitoring devices like Unmanned Aircraft for catering to any short notice multi-linear operation in the fields of disaster management, heath services and homeland security.
A meeting to this effect has been held recently under Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sri Bijay Kumar Patnaik in the secretariat conference hall wherein Tata Advanced Systems made presentation about the technologies and utilities of newly developed Mini Unmanned Aircraft.
The vehicle can be put to multifarious use like disaster management, tracking whether relief reaches the victim, crowd monitoring, traffic management, monitoring of special events, management of forest fires, wildlife tracking and monitoring, administering of health services etc. The device can also provide for Geo-Fencing and can be utilized for police deployment, protection of critical assets of the state, protection of important buildings, coastal/port/harbor surveillance, detection of illegal mining and transportation etc.
Secretary Home Sri U.N.Behera, Secretary Revenue & Disaster Management Sri Raj Kumar Sharma, Secretary Health & Family welfare Smt Anu Garg, Vice-President Tata Advanced System Ltd. Sri P.Kumar along with other officials participated in discussions. Chief Secretary has advised secretaries present in the meeting to look in to details of the operational side and assess its applicability in Odishan topography and other conditions.
