On 16 November 2011, the European Commission UAS Panel’s 4th Workshop took place in the Europa meeting room at EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. This workshop addressed the following topics and their pertinence to UAS: societal impact, privacy, data protection, liability and ethical concerns.
The “chef de file” and chairman of this workshop was Alfredo Roma, European Space Policy Institute, Austria. All presentations given at this workshop, as well as the presentations given at the three previous workshops, are posted on www.uvs-info.com (see EC UAS Panel tab in the menu bar), as well as on the European Commission’s web site.
The next and final workshop in the series of five workshops organized by the EC UAS Panel will take place on 9 February 2012 at the Military Academy in Brussels, Belgium. The “chef de file” of this workshop will be Ms Claude-France Arnould, the chief executive of the European Defence Agency. The subject of this workshop will be “Research & Development for UAS” and it will address the mapping of current UAS research priorities, the identification of technology gaps, the mapping of innovation investment schemes (including demonstrator programmes), and EU level coordination.
