USSOCOM’s evaluation of the A160 Hummingbird UAS has been stalled since one of the platforms crashed in Belize in September 2010, said Army Col. Douglas Rombough, the program executive officer for rotary wing at USSOCOM.

AIA Calls for Continued Aerospace Investment
Former FAA Administrator and current President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association, Marion C. Netherlands Gets its Own Unmanned Aviation Network
On Thursday June 9, 2011, the first meeting of the NVvL network for unmanned aviation was held. Nearly 70 individuals from the sector participated in the meeting, representing more than 40 companies and organizations.
UK Association Seeks Members’ Comments
The CAA has invited the UK UAS Industry to offer suggestions, improvements and amendments to the current version of CAP722, Unmanned Aircraft System Operations in UK Airspace – Guidance, 4th Edition.
UAVS is collating comments from its members with the intent of submitting these comments to the CAA in the middle of February 2011.
EC Views UAS Petition Favourably
Yesterday, in reply to its petition, UVS International received a letter from Mr Siim Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, and Responsible for Transport, in which Mr Kallas indicated that he fully shared the views of UVS International. In addition, in reference to the European Commission’s High Level Group, which is being constituted “to develop a single European Roadmap dealing with the structural, institutional and regulatory measures that need to be tackled”, Mr Kallas indicated “Without wanting to pre-empt any decisions that will be taken in this regard, I am confident that the close involvement of UVS International to this work will be ensured”.
