A standing room only crowd listened to a dynamic panel of industry executives on the Future of Drones during the opening day of the 2nd Annual Drone World Expo taking place at the San Jose Convention Center.

Gretchen West of Hogan Lovells moderated the opening day keynote on The Future of Drones: Clearing the Flight Path to a Connected World.  Panelists included Lawrie Jordan from Esri, Terah Lyons from the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, Ingo D. Piroth from IBM Global Business Services and Dr. Joseph Rios from NASA who discussed the future of connected technology.

The U.T.SEC, Unmanned Technologies & Security – Expo & Conference, which is to be held at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre on 2 – 3 March 2017, is the first trade fair devoted to every aspect of drones. The event will focus on the technical possibilities for increasing security through the deployment of unmanned systems in the civil, industrial and state sectors but also on protecting against their unwanted use. We wanted to find out more about the success of Drone World Expo and what’s in store for this year’s event, so we interviewed Gretchen West Senior Advisor of Innovation and Technology Hogan Lovells; Drone World Expo Master of Ceremonies.

1. What was your main takeaway from last year’s Drone World Expo ?

Drone World Expo caters specifically to helping commercial end users understand the value and benefits of using drones in their business operations, and while many other conferences talk about end users, the Drone World Expo audience is truly made up of end users eager to learn.  The attendee list last year was impressive with stakeholders from dozens of different industries.  I’m looking forward to an even larger and more eager audience at this year’s event.
