Gretchen has served the unmanned systems industry over a decade and is an industry-leading advocate for commercial robotics. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Gretchen was at San Francisco start-up DroneDeploy serving as the company’s Vice President of Business Development and Regulatory Affairs. Previously, for over a decade, Gretchen served as AUVSI’s Executive Vice President, overseeing AUVSI’s global business development initiatives and government relations efforts for the unmanned systems and robotics industry.   Continue reading →

Drone World Expo Announces Town Hall Meeting

Next month’s long anticipated Drone World Expo will offer three keynote sessions, which will be open to all attendees.  The two newly announced sessions are Drones For Good: Using UAS To Stop The Slaughter of Rhino and Elephants in Africa, scheduled for Wednesday, November 18th at 9:00 am; and the DWE Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 17th at 3:45 pm.  These two sessions join the opening morning keynote Avoiding the Traffic Jam: A Government and Industry UTM Update(Tuesday, November 17th at 9:00 am), all taking place at the San Jose Convention Center. Drone World Expo – Exclusive Board Member Interviews – Jonathan Evans

jonathan250To find out what inspires their interest in UAS and attracts the Advisory Board Members to support Drone World Expo, we scheduled a series of exclusive interviews. Our tenth interviewee is -Jonathan Evans, CEO, Skyward.

Jonathan is a professional pilot with 17 years of aviation experience and over 3,000 hours of flight time. He possesses an airline transport pilot (ATP) license, and commercial and flight instructor ratings in airplanes and helicopters. In his career as a UH60 Blackhawk pilot, Jonathan flew for the Army’s aviation unit charged with flying presidential cabinet members, congressmen and top Pentagon officials. Continue reading →

Coffey250To find out what inspires their interest in UAS and attracts the Advisory Board Members to support Drone World Expo, we scheduled a series of exclusive interviews. Our ninth interviewee is  John “JC” Coffey Executive Director, Unmanned Systems at Cherokee Nation Technology Portfolio.

In 24 years in the Navy he accumulated 4,500 flight hours in every imaginable plane and helicopter earning an impressive list of medals and honours along the way. He retired from the United States Navy in February 2011. and  joined TriVector Service, Inc. as the Vice President of the Unmanned Systems Division, in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program Office. Google NASA FAA in UTM Update at Drone World Expo

Drone World Expo will open with an insightful and informative conversation from leaders from NASA, Google, and the Federal Aviation Administration who will provide an update on the vision for safety enabling low-altitude UAS operations for commercial markets.   The keynote will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at the San Jose Convention Center and will be moderated by Gretchen West, Senior Advisor on Technology and Innovation for Hogan Lovells and National Advisory Chairperson for UAVUS, who will also serve as Master of Ceremonies for Drone World Expo.
