VisionMap Adds 3D Capabilities to Aerial Cameras

VisionMap – a provider of digital aerial automatic mapping systems – will introduce new 3D capabilities to its popular aerial cameras, MIST and A3 Edge, at LAAD 2015. The new capability, called 3D Edge, is performed by an image processing system located on the ground, along with 3D modeling software. The images produced by the cameras automatically reach the ground unit, and through a sophisticated algorithm, create three-dimensional models. Continue reading

BASF Develops Simple 3D Sensor

basf3dcamera440Chemicals giant BASF SE has developed a single-lens passive optical sensor that can measure distance to an object and thereby 3D position detection and 3D imaging. The company hopes to develop the sensor for a broad range of applications from consumer electronics such as cameras and smartphones to automotive, transportation, medical and machine vision and security and surveillance.

Perceptor Gimballed Imaging Sensor Added to Puma

Lockheed Martin’s partner Altavian Inc. has been awarded a $4 million contract to provide gimbaled sensor payloads for the Army’s RQ-20 Puma small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).  These payloads will feature the Lockheed Martin Procerus Technologies Perceptor gimballed imaging sensor, which provides advanced stabilization and sharper images, along with dual-band imaging and laser illumination capabilities.
