Increment 2 Gorgon Stare Gets Operational Clearance from USAF

Gorgon-Stare_Sierra-Nevada-Corp-ISR_20140630The United States Air Force (USAF) recently deployed the latest generation of Gorgon Stare, Department of Defense’s (DoD) remotely controlled, aircraft-based Wide-Area Persistent Surveillance (WAPS) system. Designed and built by an industry team led by Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission capability business area, the system builds on and integrates lessons learned from both the Increment 1 Gorgon Stare version and other related DoD ISR programmes.

Pix4D Creates High-Precision 3D Modelling using Consumer Grade Cameras


Pix4D’s pre-summer challenge was to create a highly accurate and very dense 3D model of Chillon Castle (Château de Chillon), Switzerland’s most visited historic monument. The 3D point cloud integrates the indoor and outdoor structures of this highly complex architectural object with a resolution of up to 5mm and is based on both aerial and terrestrial images acquired with DJI Phantom 2 Vision, GoPro Hero 3+, Canon 6D and Sony alpha 7r cameras with Fisheye lenses. ArrowNEANY has expanded its partnership agreement with Visual Intelligence to deploy Visual Intelligence’s iOne M+ 108 megapixel metric mapping system in NEANY’s flagship unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Arrow. NEANY will utilize the iOne M+ system for large area high-resolution geospatial imaging for both military and commercial applications.

Silent FalconSilent Falcon UAS Technologies has unveiled a fully integrated photogrammetric sensor package that flies aboard the solar-electric powered Silent FalconTM Unmanned Aircraft System. Incorporating the custom Falcon XCAM-A camera system, Pix4D processing software and LizardTech compression technology, the Silent Falcon photogrammetric package is designed to collect mapping-quality image data on long-endurance, extended-range UAS missions.
