Russia has shot down several Ukrainian unmanned surveillance aircraft flying over the Crimean Peninsula from the North over the last month using Pantsir (Greyhound) surface-to-air missile systems, a Crimean military source told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

China Develops Anti-drone Laser
China has successfully tested a homemade laser defence system specially targeting small-scale UAS flying at low attitude. The machine is able to shoot down various small aircraft within a two-kilometer radius and can do so in five seconds after locating its target, said a statement released Sunday by the China Academy of Engineering Physics, one of the system’s co-developers. Raytheon Gets $20M US Air Force Contract for New Long Range Radar System
The U.S. Air Force awarded Raytheon Company a $19.5 million contract for engineering and manufacturing development of a new expeditionary radar that will detect, identify and track drones, missiles and aircraft. The total contract, including all options, is currently estimated at $71.8 million and includes the procurement of an additional three radar systems, for a total of six radar systems and product support.
