Roketsan‘s UAV-230 air-to-surface supersonic missile is in its final qualification phase and is scheduled to begin series production by the end of 2023, the company announced at the 16th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) held from 25 to 28 July in Istanbul, where a prototype of the missile was displayed. Rheinmetall AG of Düsseldorf has secured an important order from Hungary for Hero Loitering Munitions. Contracts to this effect have now been signed. The munitions are worth a figure in the low three-digit million-euro range. Delivery will begin in 2024 and is scheduled to end in 2025. Continue reading

Raytheon in partnership with Northrop Grumman Corporation was awarded a follow-on contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to reduce risk for future air breathing hypersonic systems. Ukrainian inventors have developed the Khrushch strike system project which is a loitering munition that can be launched from another drone. The carrier drone is supposed to lift the loitering munition with a HEAT charge and, as it approaches the target, detach the munition that will go to the enemy. Continue reading
